Amcrest softAP is a feature found in some Amcrest devices that allows you to connect to the device's hotspot to allow for a more seamless connection to your Wi-Fi network. Step 1: Plug your camera to a power source and allow it to initialize. Once it is powered on and ready to connect, open the Amcrest View Pro 2 app, tap Add Device, and select Scan QR Code P2P.
Step 2: Scan the QR code found on your device or manually enter the serial number if necessary. Select WiFi Camera.
Step 3: Tap WiFi Configuration Setup and tap Next to continue.
Step 4: Tap Connect to Hotspot and allow the app to connect to the device's hotspot. The device's hotspot will typically be labeled as "DAP-AMCXXXXX..." Please note, if you are using Android, you may have to connect to the hotspot manually in the WiFi settings menu and return to the app.
Step 5. Enter the default password for the camera "admin" and tap Next to continue. The app will begin searching for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your Wi-Fi network and connect to it. The camera will then begin connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
Step 6: Once the device is connected, give your device a name, ensure the default password is there and tap Save.
Step 7: Enter the default password "admin" again and give your device a password. The password should be a combination of 8-32 numbers, letters and characters, please note, these are case sensitive. Tap Save.
