How To Setup Email Alerts On the Amcrest View Pro 2 App

Email Setup will be dependent on your specific email provider. In this example, we will be using Gmail. Setting up email alerts will allow your device to send email notifications once a motion detection or other event is detected by the device. For more information on how to setup email alerts please refer to the information provided below. 

Step 1: Open the Amcrest View Pro 2 app and select your device, tap on the settings (gear wheel), access the Configuration Center and select Email Alerts. 

Step 2: Enter the email address into the Username field. Enter the password provided by Gmail into the Password field. Please note, the "Password" should be the Gmail generated app password provided. 

Allowing Less Secure Apps (Updated)

As of May 30th, 2022, Google will be removing the allow less secure apps option, this means a generated password will need to be entered that will allow email alerts to come through on your account. Before proceeding, please ensure 2 factor authentication is enabled in your account settings. For more information on how to do this, please refer to the information provided below. 

• In Gmail, using a web browser, click the account avatar/icon picture located in the upper right of the window.
• Click the blue button that says "Manage Your Google Account"

• Once on the account setting page please click "Security"

• Click on ensure 2-step verification is enabled. In the 2-step verification menu, scroll down and locate App passwords

• Enter a name for the authentication and click Create. 

• Google will generate an app password which must be entered into your Amcrest device's Email Setup interface.

• Navigate back to the web UI, and in the email interface, enter the generated app password provided by Google into the Password section.

Step 3: Select the Email Provider (which in this case is Gmail). 

Step 4: Enter the recipient's email address into the Recipients field. Tap the "+" icon to input the email address into the app. 

Step 5: Tap Save, then tap Email Test to test the connectivity. 

Step 6: Make sure the Email Alerts option is enabled in the motion detection field.
