How To Download Recordings From An Amcrest Device Using Different Amcrest Platforms

Amcrest offers several ways to download a recording from your device. This includes platforms such as the web user interface using a web browser,  Amcrest View Pro or Amcrest View Pro 2 mobile apps, Amcrest Cloud, Amcrest Orion, and other similar platforms. Downloading a Recording Using the Web UI

The Playback menu allows the user to playback and download recorded video and snapshots that have been saved to a microSD card. Press the Search button to load recordings or snapshots based on a specified date and time. 

Events can be downloaded directly from the playback interface to your computer. Please note, this can only be done if the .exe plugin has been installed. The interface allows you to download a single event or multiple events if needed, if you would like to download all events, click on the “All” option located next to the total records field.

Note: The .exe plugin must be installed to download recordings from the browser. 

To download a recording, select an event ensuring it has a blue checkmark next to the event. After selecting the event, click the Download button to launch the download interface.

The download interface will display the total number of events being downloaded, the event type, the start & end times, the duration of the event as well as the total size (MB) of the event. Click on Browse to select a download path for the events and click Start Download to download the selected events to your computer.

Using An Amcrest Device With a Different Web UI Interface? 

Some model cameras may have a different web user interface than others however, events can still be downloaded to your computer if needed. Please note, this feature may require the user of a .exe plugin. To download events you must have a microSD card inserted and working in your camera. For more information on how to download an event using the web UI, please refer to the information provided below. 

To begin, log into your device using the web UI. For more information on how to access the web UI click here. 

Click on Playback and use the calendar to choose which day you would like to view. All days with active events will be highlighted in the calendar menu.

Click on File List. This will display all events for that day.

Click the download icon ( mceclip0.png ) next to the event you wish to download.

Note: If your camera does not require a plugin all downloaded files will save to your current browser's download folder. However, if your camera requires a plugin, the download path can be adjusted. To adjust the download path, click on Setup >> Camera>> Video>>Path.

In the Path menu, in the Playback Download section, click on Browse to designate a new path for your downloads. Click Save after a new download path has been set. 

Downloading a Recording Using Amcrest View Pro

 All recordings from your device can be accessed in the Playback menu. Please make sure you have the latest version of the app before downloading a recording. 

To begin, open the Amcerst View Pro app, tap the main menu icon ( mceclip0.png ) and select Playback.

Tap on the ( + ) icon and select a playback date and time range then choose your device.

While the event is playing, use the manual record icon ( mceclip2.png ) or the manual photo (snapshot) icon ( mceclip1.png ) to retain the event to your app. If you are manually recording an event, tap the manual record icon again to stop the recording.

Note: All manually retained events will be saved into the My Saved Files folder located in the main menu of the app. Tap on the main menu icon ( mceclip0.png ) again and tap on My Saved Files.

Tap and hold the selected file located in the folder that you want to download. 

Note: All manually recorded video events will be stored in the video folder (mceclip3.png). If you took a manual snapshot, click on the snapshot icon ( mceclip4.png ) to access the snapshot menu. If you would like to select all recordings, tap on the select all icon ( mceclip6.png ). 

Tap on the download icon ( mceclip5.png ) to download the file to your mobile device. 

All any permissions requested to download the file. The file will then begin downloading to the photo/ gallery on your mobile device. 

Downloading a Recording Using Amcrest View Pro 2 

Clipping a recording in the Amcrest View Pro 2 app allows you to download a specific portion of a longer recording. This can be useful if you want to save a specific event or moment, or if you want to share a shorter clip. Clipped recordings will be saved in the File menu after it has been clipped. To begin, open the Amcrest View Pro 2 app, open the playback menu, select your device and tap Clip

Use the timeline to locate the recording you want to clip and tap Start. When done, tap Stop

The clipped recording will be saved in the Video folder in the File menu.

Downloading a Recording Using Amcrest Cloud. 

Events from your cloud account can be downloaded to your smartphone using the Amcrest Cloud app. The Amcrest Cloud app is available on both the App Store and Google Play Store. Recordings can also be downloaded using using a web browser if needed. For more information on how to download a recording in the cloud using a web browser, click here. 

Open the Amcrest Cloud app and tap on the device.

Use the timeline to locate the event and click play to view the event.

When viewing the event, tap the options icon ( mceclip0.png ) located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and tap Download

Allow the app to access your photo gallery and allow the event to be saved to your photo gallery. Once the event has completed downloading, you can view the event in your photo gallery. 

Downloading a Recording Using An NVR or DVR

The Playback or Search menu allows you to view recordings retained in the system. This includes recording types such as continuous, motion detection, (MD), Alarm, IVS, etc. The features and options may differ model to model, and downloading from a browser to your computer may require a .exe plugin to function. For more information on how to download a recording using an Amcrest NVR or DVR please refer to the information provided below. 

To begin, access the web user interface (web UI) in a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.

Click on Playback or Search depending on the model. In this menu, you will notice a calendar, if events are available for this day a small dot will be visible underneath the day. Select the date from the calendar and click on the File List option.

Select a recording from the file list. Note the start and end times of the recording and click on the scissor icon.

Enter the start and end time of the recording into the video clip (scissor icon) interface and click the Save icon.

Choose a path that you would like the recording to download to and click OK. The recording will download to your computer using the specified path. 

Downloading a Recording If Using The Amcrest Orion Surveillance Software

Recordings in the playback menu can be downloaded (exported) using the Amcrest Orion Surveillance software. To download the free software click here.

To begin, open the Amcrest Orion surveillance software and select Download Center

Select the device in the Resources menu and click the calendar option in the Time menu. Select a date and time range of the recordings. Click OK

Click Search. Recordings can be accessed in a timeline or file format. If downloading from a timeline range, select a start and end time in the timeline, enter the software user password and click OK. Verify the start and end time of the recording and click OK. The recording will begin to download.

Click the Downloaded tab to view and locate the storage path of the recording. Click the  icon to locate the downloaded recording on your computer. 

Note: If downloading multiple recordings, it is recommended to use the File menu. Select all recordings you want to download and select Download Selected File. To download a single file, click the Operation icon.

Downloading a Recording If Using The Amcrest Surveillance Pro Software

Recordings in the playback menu can be downloaded (exported) using the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. To download the free software click here.

To begin, open the Amcrest Surveillance Pro software and click on Playback.

Select your device from the device menu and click on the Time option to display the calendar

Note: If a recording is present the date will have a blue dot. Enter a start and end time of the recording and click Search

The Event menu will display all events located on the microSD card for your selected device from the date range entered.

Choose a recording from the records menu. Please note, if you do not want to trim the recording, click on the export icon mceclip4.png to begin downloading.

Trimming a Recording

If you would like to trim the recording before downloading it, click on the scissor icon ( mceclip1.png ). You will notice a start and end duration displayed for the selected recording on the time bar. The first red bar will be the start time and the second red bar will be the end time of the event. Use your mouse to drag the red bars and modify them to a specified start and end time.

Click on the scissor icon again to begin exporting the file.

Click on Browse to choose a destination folder for your recording, then click on the Export Format dropdown menu and select MP4. Click OK.

Note: Since the default format is ASF it is highly recommended to choose either AVI or MP4 to view your recording. 

The recording will begin to download.

Once the recording has finished downloading, click on the Downloaded tab. In the Downloaded tab, click on the Folder icon to access the recording.

The recording can be played on the default media player of your computer.

Downloading a Recording If Using An Amcrest Smart Home Device

Recordings in the Amcrest Smart Home app can be downloaded to your phone through the Amcrest Smart Home cloud or from a microSD card. For more information on how to download recordings from the Amcrest Smart Home cloud, click here.

A microSD card must manually be inserted into the device to retain and download motion events. For more information on how to download a microSD card recording, please refer to the information provided below.

To begin, log into your Amcrest Smart Home account and select your device from the Devices menu and tap on the MicroSD Card option. 

Tap on the File List icon ( image3.PNG ) located in the local storage menu and select the recording you want to download from the file list. 

Tap the download icon ( image6.png ) to download the recording.

The recording will begin to download.

A blue checkmark ( image9.png) will appear next to the download icon once the recording has finished downloading. You can also share your recordings directly to other services on your smartphone via the share icon ( image10.png ) located in the middle of the download menu. Please note, the recording must be downloaded to the app first in order to share them. 

Recordings downloaded from the microSD card will be downloaded to the Downloads List folder. The Downloads List folder can be found in the Account menu. Exit the interface to access the main menu. Click Account

Step 2: Click on Downloads List  and select the folder icon. 

 

Tap on the Export icon. 

The event will be downloaded to the photo or gallery section on your mobile device.
