An Area People Counting rule allows the user to draw a detection area and provide an overlay of how many people have entered a custom detection area. This option can be configured along with traditional people counting rules as well if needed. Like traditional people counting the .exe plugin must be installed for these options to function.
This rule can be enabled simultaneously with heat map if needed. Please make sure a microSD card is inserted into the camera to allow the camera to retain area people counting reports. For more information on how to setup these rules please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open a web user interface (Web UI) of your device and log in. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.
Step 2: Access the main menu and click on AI. Select a General or Schedule plan, if you would like more information on how different intelligence modes work on your camera, click here.
Step 3: Click Next. Select People Counting from the Smart Plan menu and click Next.
Note: A heat map rule can be setup with people counting if needed, for more information about heat map, click here.
Step 4: A people counting rule will be selected by default, however, to add an area people counting rule click Add Rule and select Area People Counting from the dropdown menu.
Step 5: Use your mouse to draw a detection area on the interface. Enable the Area People Counting Alarm option and set the inside number parameters, the default number is 30, however, this can range between 0 – 80. Select a threshold from the Type dropdown menu, this will tell the camera to trigger the alarm if the threshold of people inside the detection area is greater than, less than, equal to, etc. the inside number.
A stay alarm can also be configured which will allow the camera to trigger the rule if a person is inside the detection area for a specified amount of time, this can range from 1 to 1800 seconds if needed.
Step 6: Click Playback to retain reporting data to a microSD card. Select any additional options, such as a siren, which will allow the camera to produce an audible siren, or email to send a notification of the event to an entered email address.
