How to Setup a Secure HTTPS/SSL Connection Using An Amcrest Device (IP8M-T2883EW-AI)

HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure. It is a protocol for securing the communication between two systems such as a web browser and your Amcrest IP camera. For more information on how to set up HTTPS using the Amcrest web user interface (web UI) please refer to the information provided below. 

Step 1: Open the web user interface (Web UI) of your camera using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon and select Network.

Step 3: In the Network menu, select Certificate Management.

Step 4: Click Install Device Certificate and select Create Certificate. Click Next to continue.

Step 5: Enter the details for the cert and click Create and install certificate

Step 6: Locate the newly created rootcert, download and install the cert to your computer.

Note: Use the certificate import wizard on your computer to import the root cert. For more information on how to install the certificate, please refer to the information below. 

• Locate the root cert and select Install Certificate

 Use the Certificate Import Wizard to install the cert. Make sure the Store Location is set to Current User. Click Next

 Click Place all certificates in the following store, select Browse, and select Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click Next.

 Click Yes to import the certificate.

Step 7: Once the cert is installed on your computer, navigate back to the HTTPS menu in the web UI. Select the newly created cert and click Enable. Click Apply

Note: Refresh the browser is needed. A secure HTTPS/SSL connection is now established.
