How To Set A People Counting Rule On An Amcrest Camera (IP12M-2380EW)

The people counting menu offers two methods for counting the number of people that enter a certain area; people counting, which provides an overlay and report of the number of people who have entered or exited the detection line and area people counting, which detects and provides an overlay of how many people entered a custom area of the live view screen.

The .exe plugin must be installed for these options to function in the browser, please note, people counting rules can be enabled simultaneously with heat map if needed. Please make sure a microSD card is inserted into the camera to allow the camera to retain people counting reports. Step 1: Open a web user interface (Web UI) of your device and log in. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.

Step 2: Access the main menu and click on AI. Select a General or Schedule plan, if you would like more information on how different intelligence modes work on your camera, click here.

Step 3: Click Next. Select People Counting from the Smart Plan menu and click Next

Note: A heat map rule can be setup with people counting if needed, for more information about heat map, click here.

Step 4: A people counting rule will be selected by default. Enter the people counting alarm thresholds, this will determine the number of people entering, exiting, or standing in the detection area before the people counting rule is triggered.

Note: To set the OSD information on the people counting overlay back to zero, click Reset. 

Step 5: Click Playback to retain reporting data to a microSD card.  Select any additional options, such as a audio linkage, which will allow the camera to produce an audible siren, or email to send a notification of the event to an entered email address.
