Heat Map is a tool used to determine the overall crowd flow (density) over a certain amount of time in a specific area. Heat map provides a color-coded layout of the density with red being the highest level to blue which is the lowest level.
To begin setting up heat map, access the AI menu on your device and enable the Heat Map option located in the Smart Plan menu and click Next. Please note, heat map and people counting smart plans can be activated simultaneously if needed.
Click the Enable option to enable the feature and use your mouse to adjust the detection area on the provided interface. Please note, the detection area will be the yellow square, click and hold the corners to adjust the size if needed.
An additional exclusion area can be created as well. This will help to exclude any areas of the live feed you do not want to include in the heat map report. To create an exclusion area, click the () icon found on the right panel and use your mouse to create an exclusion area. If you need to remove a detection or exclusion area, select the area you would like to delete and click the () icon.
The heat map option will be enabled 24/7 (full time) however a designated schedule can be applied which will allow the option only to function in certain periods of the day. To create a schedule, click on the Add Schedule option. Use your mouse to move the time bars to designate a specific time or day you would like the feature to apply.
Viewing a Heat Map Report
Heat map reports provide a color-coded image of the heat map reporting over a specified period of time. There are two heat map types, heat map and track map, a heat map shows the amount of people or the amount of time the detected people have been in the area. A track map may not be available on some models, however, will provide a map of the amount of people that have been detected in a specific direction.
Please note, a microSD card must be inserted in the camera for a report to be retained. To view a heat map report, click the Report option located in the AI menu and select Heat Map.
Select a date & time of the report, select a start and end date and time of the report in the interface. The report can show the density of people in the area or the amount of time the people in the area were detected. If using people number, enter a threshold which will be shown, if using time, enter the amount of time (in minutes) the report will apply. Click Search to view the report.

To view a track report, select Track Map from the “Type” menu, enter the start and end time of the report and click Search to view the report.
If you would like to download an image of the report, a .png file can be saved to your computer. To save the report, click Export to download the image.
