How To Setup HTTPS Using An Amcrest NVR

HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure. It is a protocol for securing the communication between two systems such as a web browser and your Amcrest NVR. For more information on how to set up HTTPS using the Amcrest web user interface (web UI) please refer to the information provided below. 

Step 1: Open a web browser and log in to the web user interface (web UI) for your device. For more information on how to access the web UI click here.

Step 2: Navigate to Management>>Network>>Connection and enable the HTTPS port.

The browser may reset, HTTPS is not set just yet, wait for the NVR to come back online and access the web UI. 

Step 3: Log back into your NVR's web UI and navigate to the connection menu and select the HTTPS tab. Click Create Certificate and enter the requested information into the fields and click Create

Step 4: The HTTPS cert will be created and the browser may reset. Log back into your device and navigate back to the HTTPS tab to download the certificate. Click Download Certificate and allow the cert to download to your computer. 

Step 5: Install the cert on your device, it can be installed manually or using the certificate import wizard on your computer. If using the wizard, click local machine and place all certificates in the following store. Click Browse, Trusted Root Certification Authorities, and click OK

Click Next and Finish to import the HTTPS certificate. Click OK

Step 6: Clear any cache if needed and access the URL for your device. The protocol will change to HTTPS.
