Enter the Still mode by pressing the M (Mode) Button located on the right side of the camera.
If you are in Video Mode, press the M (Mode) Button once. Make sure you are not recording video when trying to switch modes. You will have to stop recording by pressing the OK Button to be able to exit the Video Mode to then enter the Still Mode.
If you are in the Playback Mode, press the M (Mode) Button twice. If you are currently playing a video in Playback Mode, press the 
(Menu) Button to stop video playback before pressing the M (Mode) Button twice.
Press the OK Button to take still images.
