The Amcrest smart home alarm kit is used to trigger an event if a sensor has been tripped. The hub can also be linked to an existing Smart Home device, such as a doorbell or other device to provide added protection to the area. For more information on how to set up an Amcrest Smart Home Kit, please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Connect the power cable to the included USB adapter and plug it into a nearby wall outlet. Plug the other end of the power cable into the USB power port on the hub.
The hub will begin to initialize. Once the LED indicator is flashing blue, the hub will be ready to connect to the Amcrest Smart Home app.
Step 2: Open the Amcrest Smart Home app and tap “Register” to register an account. After registering an account, log into the app and tap “Add Device”. You will need to allow any notification and location permissions to allow the device to connect to your mobile device.
Step 3: Scan the QR code located on the hub. If you are unable to scan the QR code you can manually enter the serial number by tapping “Manually enter SN”.
Note: Be sure to have your Wi-Fi password handy during setup. Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Enter a password for the device and set a recovery email. This will be the email used to recover a forgotten password. Click OK.
Step 5: Select your Wi-Fi Network and enter the password for your Wi-Fi network. Click Connect.
Note: The hub will sound and the indicator light will turn solid blue once it has been successfully connected to your network Click Next.
Step 6: Enter a name for the hub and click Save.
Step 7: Set a time zone for the device using the time zone setup interface. Click Next.
Step 8: Click Finish once the setup is complete.
Adding the Sensors
Once the hub has been added to the app, the sensors can now be added to the hub. To add the sensors to the hub, the included pin will be required. Once added the sensors can then be mounted to a flat surface using the provided adhesive stickers. For more information on adding the sensors please refer to the information provided below.
Step 9: On the Device's menu, click Add Sensor.
Step 10: Select which sensor you would like to add. For this example, we will be adding the Entryway Sensor. Click Next.
Step 11: Tap the pair button on top of the hub to set the hub into pairing mode, the hub will chime. Tap Next to continue.
Step 12: Insert the included metal pin into the hole on the bottom (or side) of the sensor and hold until the indicator LED on the front of the sensor is flashing. Remove the pin and allow the sensor to pair with the hub. Please note, once pair the hub will chime and the pairing indicator LED on top of the hub will turn solid blue. Click Next.
Step 13: The sensor has now been successfully added to the hub. Enter or choose a name for the sensor and tap Complete.
If an additional smart home device is added to your account, such as a doorbell, camera, etc. and you would like to link the camera to the alarm system tap Link Now and follow the on-screen prompts. Linking the camera to the hub will allow the camera to retain a 30-second clip of the event after the alarm has been triggered. Please ensure the linked camera has a microSD card inserted or is linked to an Amcrest Smart Home cloud account before linking. If you would like to skip this option, Link Later.
Arming the Sensor
The sensor will come disarmed by default and will need to be activated manually by the user. There are 4 options for the device in terms of arming; "Mute", which will mute the siren on the hub if an event is detected, "Home" which activate the sensor into home mode which will arm the sensor instantly, and "Away" which will arm the sensor after a 30-second countdown.
To arm, the sensor, navigate to the Devices menu and select which alarm type you would like. The sensor will be recognized as open and the app will ask if you would like to activate the sensor, tap the Activate Away Mode anyways, or Activate Home Mode anyways option (depending on which option is selected and the sensor will be armed. Once armed, the status will change to "Armed" in the interface. The hub and sensors have now been properly added to the app and ready for use.
