Password Reset Process for AI DVRs

If you have lost or forgotten the password associated with your DVR, the password can be reset locally or using the web user interface (web UI) via a web browser. The DVR must be connected to the internet for the password reset process to work. For more information on how to reset the password for your device, please refer to the information provided below. 

How to Reset the Password Locally

This will require you to have the DVR hooked up either VGA or HDMI to a monitor. Please make sure the device is hooked up with an Ethernet cable to your network and a USB mouse is connected.

Step 1: Access the login screen and click the Forgot Password? icon ( mceclip0.png ).

Note: The password reset will require your email address MAC address, and serial number to reset the password safely. All the information collected is only used for the purpose of verifying the validity of the device as well as the security code. Click OK to continue. 

Step 2: A QR code will appear on your screen.

Please use a smartphone to scan the QR Code. Email the QR code text to support_gpwd@htmicrochip.com

An email with the security code will be sent to the email address that is active on the DVR. Please note, the code will only be active for 24 hours after it has been sent.

Please note, if the email notification is not coming to your inbox, please check any Spam, Junk, Filtered Folders. etc. for the notification. Every email service provider may differ drastically but we recommend adding these specific email addresses in your contacts or mark them as not spam.

Enter the security code provided in the email into the interface and click Next to continue.

Step 3: Enter a new password into the New Password field and confirm the password into the Confirm Password field. Please make sure the password is between 8 to 32 characters, including at least two of the following categories: numbers, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and special characters. Please avoid using characters such as ' " ; &. Click OK to continue.

The password reset is complete. Click OK to complete the process. Use the new password you just created to access your device. Click OK to log into your device.

How to Reset the Password Using a Web Browser

Please ensure the device is connected to your local network and your computer and you have direct access to your device. For more information on how to access the web user interface (web UI) for your device, please click here.
