FTPS (File Transfer Protocol Secure, or FTP-over-SSL/TLS) is an extension of the standard File Transfer Protocol that incorporates cryptographic security protocols like Transport Layer Security (TLS). Unlike regular FTP, which transmits usernames, passwords, and data in plain text, FTPS encrypts the entire connection to protect sensitive information from being intercepted by malicious third parties during transfer. For more information on how to set up FTPS on your device please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open the web user interface (Web UI) of your camera using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings>>Storage>>Destination>>Path and select the FTP option. Click Apply.
Step 3: Select the FTP tab. Select FTPS from the model menu and enable the function.
Note: Enable the Session Reuse option. This ensures that data connections securely reuse the SSL/TLS session established during the control connection, which is often required by secure servers and prevents connection blocks.
Step 4: Enter the target folder path on your server where the camera files should be saved. The default secure port for FTPS is 21 or 990 depending on your server configuration, but leave it as 21 unless specified otherwise by your provider.
Step 5: Enter the username and password provided by your FTP/FTPS server admin or hosting account. In the FTPS Path field, define the root or working directory (/folder path) where snapshots or recordings will be stored.
Step 6: Click Apply then click Test to test FTPS connectivity and that the recordings or snapshots are being stored to the correct folder path.
