Face Detection is used in conjunction with video metadata or an AI NVR to detect facial images. Please note, a preset must be established first to activate a face detection smart plan. A global smart plan can be used to set up face detection however it is highly recommended to set up a preset manually. For more information on how to set up face detection, please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Log in to the web user interface (web UI) for your camera. For more information on how to access the web UI for your camera click here.
Step 2: Click on Setup>>PTZ>>Function.
Note: Use the PTZ options in this menu to adjust the angle of the camera if needed.
Step 3: Click Add to add the preset. Click Save.
Note: If you would like to edit the name of the preset, let's say to "Face Detection" double click on the Preset Title and enter a name for the preset if needed.
Step 4: Once a preset has been established, navigate to Event>>Smart Plan. Click on the Add Plan button and select choose the preset from the dropdown menu.
The preset will load in the Smart Plan menu. Click on the Face Detection smart plan and click Save.
Step 5: Navigate to Face Detection. The preset will be represented in the Preset field. Click on Enable, to enable face detection. Click on the Face Enhancement checkbox to enhance the accuracy of the face detection image. Click Record to allow the device to record face snapshots. If you would like an email sent of the event, click on the Email checkbox. For more information on how to set up email alerts, click here. Click Save.
Step 6: Now that face detection has been set up, it is recommended to set up an overlay for face statistics. This will display the number of faces that were detected on the live view screen. Navigate to Camera>>Video>>Overlay>>Face Statistics. Click the Enable radio button, a yellow face statistics box will be displayed on the live view interface. Use your mouse to move the overlay to the desired position. Click Save.
Once a face is detected, the number of faces detected can be seen on live view.
The face event will be displayed in the AI Live menu after it has been detected along with facial attributes.
