How to Format a Hard Drive

Formatting a hard drive will remove all data stored on the device. The hard drive can be formatted manually or via the device's interface. It is highly recommended to format the hard drive via the device interface first before having to manually format the drive. If you need to format your hard drive manually and would like more information on how to format the drive, click here.

Step 1: Log in to the web user interface (web UI) for your device via a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI for your device, click here.

Step 2: On the main menu, click on Management and access the Storage menu.

Step 3: In the Storage menu, click on HDD Manager and select the hard drive you wish to format. Click Format.

Step 4: Click Save to format the hard drive.
