How To Setup Motion Detection on Using Web UI (NVR)

Motion detection is typically set by default while initially setting up your NVR, however, if motion detection is disabled configuring motion detection is a very simple process and can be done either locally or via the web user interface using a computer. Setting up Motion Detection Using Web UI

Please make sure you have direct access to the IP address for your device or your computer is on the same network as your NVR. For more information on how to access the web user interface (web UI) for your device, click here.

Step 1: Log into your NVR using your username and password.

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon.

Step 3: In the Settings menu, click on the Event tab and select Detect from the menu. This will bring you to your motion detection settings.

Step 3: Ensure that the Enable check box is enabled and then chose which device you would like to setup from the channel drop down menu. 

Step 4: If you want to setup a motion detection schedule for your device click on the Setup button located in the Period field. A motion detection schedule will set your camera to detect motion only at specified days and times. By default, this will be set to record 24/7, however for more information on how to configure a motion detection schedule, click here.

Step 5: Region settings can be set for your device as well which can help to reduce the amount of false motion detection alerts that are caught by your camera by allowing you to set specific motion zones, adjusting the motion sensitivity and threshold for your device. To access region settings, click on the Setup option located in the Region field.

This will display the motion region settings for your device.

Select a motion zone (color) from the screen and use your mouse to highlight specific regions on the interface. Motion sensitivity and threshold can also be adjusted which can increase the efficiency of your motion detection. For more information on sensitivity and threshold settings, click here. 

Click on Save to save the region settings to your device.

Step 6: Click on Save in the Motion Detect menu to save all your motion detection settings to your device.

A motion detection schedule has now been set on your device. For more information about additional motion detection options available on your system, please refer to the information below. 

Additional Motion Detection Options

Record Channel: This checkbox allows you to enable the system to record video for that channel when a motion detection alarm is triggered. Delay is also associated with this tab, it is the This field specifies in seconds how long the delay between alarm activation and recording should be.                                     PTZ Activation: Allows the user to active PTZ functionality to applicable PTZ devices.                                Delay: Allows the user to set a delay in between motion event activation.
Tour: Allows the user to enable the camera to activate a PTZ tour when a motion detection alarm is triggered.                                                                                                                                          Snapshot: Allows the user to enable the camera to take a snapshot when a motion detection alarm is triggered.                                                                                                                                                          Voice Prompts: Allows the user to customize voice prompts for motion detected events.                            Show Message: This checkbox allows the user to enable the system to show an on-screen message when a motion detection alarm is triggered.                                                                                                            Send Email: This checkbox allows the user to enable the system to send an email when a motion detection alarm is triggered. For more information on how to setup email alerts click here.                          Alarm Upload: This checkbox allows the user to enable the system to upload alarm information when a motion detection alarm is triggered.                                                                                                      Buzzer: Allows the user to trigger a buzzer once a motion event is detected.                                                Log Enable: Allows the user to log all motion detected events that are triggered in the device.         

To revert to default settings, click the Default button near the bottom left hand corner. To copy settings to another channel, click Copy near the bottom left hand corner. To confirm settings, click the Save button. To refresh the menu, click Refresh. To cancel any modifications, click the Cancel button.
