The serial tag is the most efficient means of locating the serial number for your device. A serial tag can be found on the back/side/bottom of your device depending on the model. A serial tag will include the following information; serial number, model number, power adapter recommendations (input), as well as a scannable QR Code which includes quick access to the serial number.
Finding the UID
The UID is found only on certain model DVRs, such as the 960H, and is typically located on the top of the DVR in the bottom right corner. The UID will have a QR Code associated with it and always start with the following letter sequence: XCPTPXXXXXXXXXXX
If the sticker on the DVR is not present you can also use the Amcrest Link app to find your UID. To find the UID on the app, open the Amcrest Link app and locate your device. Tap on your device and locate the UID field to find the UID number.
Serial numbers can be found in the S/N field on the serial tag as highlighted in the images below:

For convenience purposes, some DVRs and NVRs will feature an extra serial number tag affixed to the top of the device along with a scannable QR code which includes quick access to the serial number.
Finding the Serial Number Using the Amcrest IP Config Tool
If you do not have access to the serial number tag directly you can also locate the serial number for your device on the Amcrest IP Config tool on your computer. This is a free software offered by Amcrest that will automatically scan your home network and locate the credentials of a connected device. The software is available for both Windows and Mac users. Each version can be found directly on the downloads page of the link provided above. For more information on how to locate the serial number using the Amcrest IP Config tool, follow the instructions provided below.
Step 1: Download and install the Amcrest IP Config tool from the Amcrest downloads page.
Step 2: Open the software and let it scan you network. When a connected device is detected, the device will be displayed in the software.
Note: The computer and the device you are searching for must be on the same network when
Step 3: Locate the S/N field. This will be the serial number for your device.
Finding the Serial Number in the Web User Interface
If you are unable to find the serial number for your device via the methods listed above, you can find this information as well in the web user interface on a computer. For more information on how to find the serial number via the web user interface (Web UI) follow the instructions provided below.
Step 1: Log into the web UI using the credentials for your device. For more information on how to access the web user interface for your device, click here.
Step 2: In the web UI, click on, Setup>>Information>>Version and in the Version tab locate the S/N field. This will be the serial number for your device.
Step 3: You can also access the serial number in the P2P settings menu. To access this menu, go to Setup>>Network>>TCP/IP>>P2P. Locate the S/N field above the QR code. The serial number can be found here as well.
Finding the Serial Number on a HikVision Camera.
The serial number for HikVision cameras is typically found underneath the model number of the device.
Finding the Serial Number on an Axis Camera.
The serial number for Axis cameras are typically found serial tag underneath the part number of the device.
