How To Set a Static IP (960H DVR)
During the setup process for your device, it is highly recommended to establish and set your device on a static IP address. This will ensure the device has a more stable connection with your network as well as provide a more efficient means of accessing your device remotely. A static IP address can be setup directly via DVR's user interface, or on a laptop/PC using the Amcrest SmartClient software, depending on your preference. To set your device with a static IP, please follow the step by step instructions provided below.
DVR User Interface
Step 1: Make sure your device is connected to a monitor (VGA or HDMI) and attach an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your device. Once it is connected, power on the device with a compatible power adapter and allow the device to initialize.
Note: Please also attach a USB mouse to the unit to navigate through the screens.
Step 2: Once your device has initialized, locate the main menu button at the bottom of the screen and click on it.
Step 3: Log in using the log in credentials for your device, (username and password). If this is your first time logging into your device the username and password will be admin.
Step 4: Once you have logged into your DVR, from the main menu, click on Network to access the network settings for your device. In the General tab, you will notice a field labeled Network Access, click on the drop down menu in this field and select Static. When static has been set, click on Apply to apply the and save the settings for your device.
Step 5: Once the settings for your device have been set to your DVR, you will receive a notification stating the configuration has been saved. Click OK and then left click on the main video wall to return to the main UI for your device.

Laptop/PC
Step 1: Download and install the free SmartClient software for your DVR. The software can be accessed here:

Step 2: Once you have downloaded the SmartClient software, locate the IP address for your DVR in the search menu and log in with the username and password associated with your device. If this is your first time logging into your device the username and password will be admin.
Step 3: In the main UI screen, click the settings (gear wheel) icon located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. A Device Settings menu will appear. In the Network field, click on General to access the general network settings for your device.
Step 4: Inside the Network General screen, in the Network Access field, click on the drop down menu and select the option labeled Static. Once static has been set in this field, click on the OK button to continue.
Step 5: Once you have pressed OK you will notice a notification at the bottom of the screen that says "Network general setting succeed" this is letting you know that your network settings have been saved successfully. You may now exit the screen by clicking the "X" icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen to return to the main menu.
Congratulations! You have successfully set your 960H DVR with a static IP address using both the main UI and the SmartClient software via laptop/PC.
