How To Setup Your Amcrest Smart Home PT Camera (ASH21)

The Amcrest Smart Home PT camera has 2 methods of setup, you can set the camera up via Wi-Fi (which is recommended) or directly via an Ethernet connection. Before setting up the camera on any other platforms, such as, the Amcrest View Pro app or an NVR, the device must be connected to the Amcrest Smart Home app first. For more information on how to setup your camera on the Amcrest Smart Home app, please refer to the information provided below. 

Note: Please ensure your mobile device and camera are connected to the same network before proceeding.

Setting Up Your Camera Using the Wi-Fi Method (Recommended)

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Smart Home app and tap on “Register” to register an account (if you have not already done so). After registering an account, log into the app and tap on “Add Device”.

Step 2: Scan the QR code located on bottom on your camera. If you are unable to scan the QR code you can manually enter the serial number by tapping “Manually enter SN”. The serial number can be found on the serial tag on the bottom of your camera.

Step 3: Tap on Wi-Fi Setup

Step 4: Tap “Next” to continue and allow all permissions to allow the device to connect to your mobile device.

Note: If the indicator light does not flash green it may need to be reset. To reset the camera, lift the front of the camera, then press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds and release. The camera will begin to reset. 

Step 5: A password will then need to be set for the camera. This will be the password for your camera. Enter a password with a minimum of 8 characters using a combination of upper/lowercase letters and numbers and confirm. A recovery email can also be entered in case you forget the password for your device. Tap "OK" to continue.

Step 6: Choose your WiFi network from the WiFi list. Enter the password for your WiFi network and tap “Connect”.

Note: If you would like to select a different network to connect with, tap on “Select other network”.

Step 7: The LED indicator on the front of the camera will turn solid green once it has finished connecting to your WiFi network. Tap “Next” to continue.

Note: If the LED is still flashing or the device is reporting “WiFi password is incorrect”, please tap “Start Over” to repeat the WiFi Setup process.

Step 8: Now its time to name your camera.  A few examples are provided such as; Bedroom, Living Room, Office, can be selected if needed. Tap “Save” to continue.

Step 9: Set the “Time Zone” to your current time zone and set “DST” (Daylight Savings Time) settings if applicable. If you would like to have these settings saved as default to be added to future devices, you can toggle the “Save as Default” switch to the on position. Tap “Next” to continue.

Step 10: The Wi-Fi Setup process is complete! The camera is now properly added to the Amcrest Smart Home app. Tap "Start Live View" to view your camera.

Setting Up Your Camera Using the Ethernet Only Setup Method

Before setting your camera up using the Ethernet Setup Method, ensure an Ethernet cable is plugged into the back of the camera and the camera is connected to your network. The camera is not POE and must be powered using the included microUSB power cable/adapter. Please ensure the camera and your mobile device are on the same network during setup.

Note: The camera will only be accessible using an Ethernet cable if using this method. Wi-Fi Setup will no longer be available after the Ethernet Only Setup process is complete. 

For more information on how to setup your camera via the Ethernet Only Setup Method, please refer to the information provided below. 

Step 1: Open the Amcrest Smart Home app and tap on “Register” to register an account (if you have not already done so). After registering an account, log into the app and tap on “Add Device”.

Step 5: A password will then need to be set for the camera. This will be the password for your camera. Enter a password with a minimum of 8 characters using a combination of upper/lowercase letters and numbers and confirm. A recovery email can also be entered in case you forget the password for your device. Tap "OK" to continue.
