How To Set An Area People Counting Rule On An Amcrest Camera (IP4M-1066EW)

An Area People Counting rule allows the user to draw a detection area and provide an overlay of how many people have entered a custom detection area. This option can be configured along with traditional people counting rules as well if needed. Step 1: Open a web user interface (Web UI) of your device and log in. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.

Step 2: Access the AI menu and click Please add a preset first

Step 3: Click Add Preset and set a preset for the rule if needed using the provided PTZ options. Double click the Name field and enter a name for the preset. Click Apply, then click OK

Step 4: Click +Preset and add the smart plan to the interface. Select the People Counting smart plan and click Next.

Step 5: Select the People Counting preset and click Add Rule and select Area People Counting.

 

Step 6: Use your mouse to draw a detection area on the interface. Enable the Area People Counting Alarm option and set the inside number parameters, the default number is 30, however, this can range between 0 – 80. Select a threshold from the Type dropdown menu, this will tell the camera to trigger the alarm if the threshold of people inside the detection area is greater than, less than, equal to, etc. the inside number.

A stay alarm can also be configured which will allow the camera to trigger the rule if a person is inside the detection area for a specified amount of time, this can range from 1 to 1800 seconds if needed. 

Step 7: Click Playback to retain reporting data to a microSD card.  Select any additional options, such as a siren, which will allow the camera to produce an audible siren, or email to send a notification of the event to an entered email address.
