A crowd distribution map allows the user to track and count people density in a specified area and allows the rule to be triggered once a designated threshold is exceeded in the system. This includes people counting and crowd density rules to be activated.
The people counting rule works with the crowd distribution rule to count the number of people in the area. Please note, the camera allows you to add up to 8 separate people counting rules if needed, the default threshold for people counting is 20 people (amount of people counted before the rule is triggered) however the max crowd density number that can be set in the interface is 10.

Step 1: Open the web user interface (Web UI) of your camera using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.
Step 2: Access the main menu, select AI, and select the Crowd Distribution Map smart plan. Click Next.
Step 3: Click Add Rule and set the People Number Alarm threshold. The default value is 20 people however can be customized between 1 and 65,535 people.
Step 4: Click the Global Config tab to calibrate the area. Draw 3 vertical and 1 horizontal line on the interface and set the actual and installation height of the camera to calibrate. Click Apply.
Step 5: Use your mouse to draw a detection area on the screen. This will be the detection area for people counting. The default detection area for crowd density reporting can be configured as well by selecting a corner and adjusting accordingly. Use the and
icons to switch between the different detection areas.
Step 6: Return to the Rule Config menu and ensure the rule is enabled, select Global, and enter the crowd density threshold. This will be the amount of people detected before being retained to a crowd density report. The default is 4 people however can range up to 10 if needed.
Step 7: Click Playback to retain reporting data to a microSD card. Select any additional options, such as Send Email to send a notification of triggered event to an entered email address. For more information on how to setup email alerts, click here. Click Apply when finished.
After setting the rules A render of the crowd density map will be displayed in the lower right corner of the live view screen. Double click the map to view crowd distribution in the area.
Viewing A Crowd Density Report
A reporting of the amount of people in the area can be accessed in the Report tab located in the AI menu. Please allow at least 1 hour of reporting to occur before accessing a report. A microSD card must be inserted in the device for it to retain a report. Click on the Crowd Density Map option in the report tab.
If you would like to see reporting for the day, click Today, if you would like to see the weekly amount click This Week, etc. To set a custom start and end time, select the calendar option and enter the start and end time of the reporting. Click Search to view the report.
A report of all data will be displayed. To export this data to your computer, select the file type (.png or .csv) and click Export.
