People Counting is used to provide a statistic based on the number of people who enter and exit a certain area. Please note, People Counting cannot be used simultaneously with IVS, Heat Map, or Face Detection rules. If using this option in a web browser, the feature will require a plugin to function, it is recommended to use IE Mode on such browsers as Microsoft Edge when using this feature. For more information on how to set up a people counting rule, please refer to the information provided below.
Note: Position the camera in a way the camera can detect all people in the detection area.
Step 1: Log into the web user interface (web UI) for your camera. For more information on how to access the web UI for your camera click here
Step 2: In the web UI, click on Setup>>Event>>Smart Plan. Click on the People Counting icon and click Save.
Step 3: Open the People Counting menu in the Events tab, the NumbStat (detection line) and area will be enabled by default.
Note: Click on the Schedule button to set a schedule. This is optional but is useful if the camera is only to record people counting data at specific times of day.
Step 4: Use the Flowrate Alarm options to modify how many people it will take for the alarm to trigger if a person enters, exits, or is stranded in the detection area. It is highly recommended to leave these fields as default (0) for best results.
Step 3: Enable the Record checkbox to record the event. Click Save.
Note: If you would like an alarm to sound once the rule or threshold has been triggered, make sure the Siren option is enabled.
Use the sensitivity slider to adjust the sensitivity of the detection area. Please note, the higher the sensitivity the more people will be counted. The default sensitivity is 7 however, it can be modified between 0-10.
The “NumberStat1” line represents the detection line. The detection line is the threshold in which a person enters or exits will be detected by the camera. The detection line name can be modified in the Name field located in the People Counting menu. The “Enters” and “Exits” overlay represents the number of people the camera has detected that have entered or exited the detection area.
