Adjusting the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) settings on a Amcrest IP camera can be helpful in troubleshooting network connectivity issues, such as P2P, but it's important to do so carefully as incorrect settings can worsen the problem. For more information on how to adjust these settings please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open the web user interface (Web UI) of your camera using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.
Step 2: Click on Settings>>Network>>TCP/IP.
Step 3: Locate the MTU setting and enter the desired MTU value into the interface. The recommended value is 1500 bytes however if you are experiencing network connectivity issues you may need to lower the value. It is recommended to start with 1296 bytes however you can gradually decrease these values if needed depending on the issue or specific requirements of your network. Click Save.
Adjusting MTU Settings Using API Commands
The MTU settings can also be adjusted using API commands in needed. Enter the following CGI command into the browser and log into your camera.
*CameraIP*/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&Network.eth0.MTU=**MTU VALUE**
Be sure to enter the desired MTU value into the CGI command, enter the device's login details and click SignIn.
The new MTU values will be applied to the device.
