Amcrest View WiFi Configuration Setup
Setting up you Amcrest camera on your wireless network using Amcrest View is the fastest way to begin viewing the camera from your smartphone or tablet.
Connect the camera to a power supply using the included power adapter. Wait 30 seconds for the camera to start-up and initialize. The camera is ready when the LED on the back is blinking green or solid green (applies to indoor cameras only). You can also find the WiFi Configuration Setup method in the App Setup section of the Quick Start Card that came with your camera!
First connect your mobile device to your WiFi and download the app Amcrest View from the App Store or Play Store.
Download Amcrest View on your mobile device.
Amcrest View for iOS: Requires iOS 6.0 or later.
Amcrest View for Android: Requires Android 3.0 or later.
Open Amcrest View on your mobile device.
The Live View screen will appear. Once it does select the menu icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Now select Device Manager from the menu.
Next tap the plus icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen to begin adding a device.
Select the appropriate camera or system you wish to add to Amcrest View.
Select WiFi Configuration Setup.
The camera will open on your mobile device to scan the QR code located on the device you’re adding to Amcrest View. Alternatively, you can enter in the Serial Number manually. Your mobile device may request permissions to allow the application to use your camera. Once accepted your mobile device will then be ready to scan the QR code.
To scan the QR code effectively, try to move the device back and forth slowly to ensure the entire QR code is within the scanning window.
Give your device a name, this name will be visible to you through Amcrest View app when selecting it from a device list for playback or live viewing. The username and password are defaulted to admin. You will be prompted later to create a new password. Tap Next to continue.
Enter in your WiFi password on this screen. The SSID should be automatically entered in as long as your mobile device is already connected to WiFi.
The device will begin establishing a connection to your Wireless Network.
After a few minutes, you will be prompted with Camera Successfully Connected and can begin viewing the camera from the application by tapping on Start Live Preview.
Amcrest View will request that you change the password. Simply enter a password within the maximum 32 characters in length.
The live stream from your camera will be presented in the Live View screen.
Troubleshooting the Network Connection
If your camera is not connecting to your wireless network using Amcrest View, we recommend checking and performing the following:
Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz network. The ProHD and HDseries cameras are equipped with a WiFi module that currently only supports 2.4GHz wireless networks. If your router uses a 5GHz network and you are trying to setup your camera wirelessly on that network, it may be inaccessible as the camera can only establish a connection with a 2.4GHz network broadcast.
If you have the ability to broadcast separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks on your router, you can connect to the 2.4GHz network to complete the camera’s WiFi Configuration.
If you are confident your router is 2.4GHz, and still receive errors with during WiFi Configuration setup, fully reboot your camera by unplugging the power, waiting approximately 10 seconds, then plugging the power back into the camera. Once the camera fully reboots, try setting up the camera again using this method.
If you have followed all of these steps and still are not able to connect the camera to your wireless network using the Wi-Fi Configuration method in the app, we recommend following our Desktop Access method to set up your camera wirelessly. Click here to view our Desktop Access guide.
