Setting an App Passcode in Amcrest View

This guide will show you how to assign an app passcode to your phone. This will keep your camera access on your phone locally secure in case of theft or misplacement of device.


Connect the camera to a power supply using the included power adapter. Wait 30 seconds for the camera to start-up and initialize. The camera is ready when the LED on the back is blinking green (or solid green).


First connect your mobile device to your WiFi and download the app Amcrest View from the App Store or Play Store. Download Amcrest View on your mobile device:

Amcrest View for iOS: Requires iOS 6.0 or later.

Amcrest View for Android: Requires Android 3.0 or later.


Open Amcrest View on your mobile device.



The Live View screen will appear. Select the menu icon  in the upper left hand corner of the screen.


Now select App Passcode from the listed menu.


The App Passcode screen will be presented.


Turn the feature on or off. Tap the switch to turn it on. A new screen will appear. Enter in a password and confirm the password.


Click OK when you are finished. 

The password will then be set. If you wish to modify the password or remove the password from the application, you will have to do so through this menu.



Once you’ve created and set your password, try closing the Amcrest View application and reopening the application to give it a whirl!

You will be prompted to enter in your password after Amcrest View has loaded. Live View will appear in the background.

Logged back into Amcrest View, you’ve now successfully added just another step of security to your mobile Amcrest Camera System!
